@Alachuckthebuck Again, can you please clarify why you tagged it? The VRT status is received, not confirmed - it's still waiting for a VRT agent (usually me, when it's in Japanese langauge) to process it. The possible outcomes are 1) accept 2) reject and 3) revert. I'm inclined to choose 3, unless further clarity on what the doubt about the copyright status is provided. Reverting means that the file is kept without a tag. whym (talk) 23:41, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

I was new file patrolling, and it matched a photo on X, and because the usernames didn't match, and there was no idicator of a free license in the post or account bio, I tagged it. This was before I found the mass batches from this event and did the No permission tags. All the Best -- Chuck ^Talk 23:55, 17 May 2025 (UTC)

@Alachuckthebuck Thanks for the explanation. What do you think now? Would you now agree that the Commons image and the x.com image mentioned here are different files that happen to look similar, and that you might have overlooked the difference? (I'm not accusing you. It's inevitable to make mistakes sometimes.)

As for the mass upload, it appears to me that someone took a lot of pictures at one event, which they can do without causing copyright violation. Am I missing something? whym (talk) 02:57, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

The caption on the post exactly matches the file names. I assumed this was a one-off netcopyvio, until I saw the whole catagory, then I tagged for no permission, waiting for VRT. I think that these are Bject's photos. All the Best -- Chuck ^Talk 03:13, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

@Alachuckthebuck It sounds like VRT is not the right method here, becuase someone emailing VRT won't add any evidence. VRT works for files with previous publication history (and thus a doubt that someone might have stolen them and uploaded here), by comparing the email sender and the previous publication's contact information. If it's own work and not published elsewhere, there is nothing VRT can do. Specifically, it's written in COM:VRT's 2nd item under "When contacting VRT is unnecessary". That said, if you still have doubt on the copyright status somehow, you can discuss it in a regular deletion request. whym (talk) 03:30, 19 May 2025 (UTC)

I'm unsure of what the connection to that X account is, because there are exact matches for some of the photos, and VRT is best way to handle it, as the exif doesn't give any information. All the Best -- Chuck ^Talk 03:32, 19 May 2025 (UTC)
